A Whittaker is born
Two of our most valued employees, Colin and Fiona Whittaker, have recently been blessed with a beautiful baby boy and we’re all thrilled for them!
Baby Benjamin David Whittaker was born at 11:15am on 19 December weighing 7’12lb.
Colin met Fiona (was Hoile) when she came to work for CIA in 1995. Colin had been working for us since he left school in 1980 following in the footsteps of his Father, the late David Whittaker.
Dave was instrumental to CIA’s success right through the 80’s and 90’s first as Alarm Technician then Installation Manager then to Service Manager and ultimately to Training Manager. Dave came to us from the Navy in 1979 and he stayed with us until he retired in March 2002, making sure that engineering ran like a tight ship and always with a dry but warm sense of humour and razor sharp wit. Having just joined Facebook with some old staff pictures in our timeline many comments like, “I miss Dave Whittaker” and “Bless Dave” are common. It’s been 8 years since Dave pasted, on 20 December 2005, and clearly, he’s still very much in our hearts.
Colin joined as an apprentice and quickly proved that he was technically astute whilst installing security systems. He rapidly rose up through the ranks of the install department before making the jump to CCTV System Designer in 2002, where he’s perfectly suited as the position requires someone with both the technical understanding as well as the motivation to stay current with the state of the art; with a discipline like CCTV, technology is moving very quickly.
Fiona started as an Office Junior. She progressed through the Administration department and became Team Leader and is currently our Personnel Director (although currently on maternity leave). Fiona is very popular, probably due to her easy manner and friendly disposition and she’s always a good laugh socially. She’s level-headed and a great manager of people as well. Her approachable nature means that she knows exactly whats going on with all of our staff; people know she is a trustworthy confidant.
Looking back through our charity news section there are many instances of the pair raising money for good causes, and you can be sure; where there’s one, the other will be there somewhere cheering them on.
And on that note, “Congratulations from everybody here at CIA, we are all very happy for all three of you!!!”, the only question that remains is, “When does he start?”
