CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) Overview

This page gives a broad overview of CCTV and some of the benefits.  It also details the basic elements of a CCTV system, and outlines the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

What is CCTV?

A basic CCTV system would normally comprise of a CCTV recording unit, cameras and a viewing monitor.

Depending on your requirement CIA would design all the system requirements to provide the correct solution for your needs.

Some of our options include:

Network Video Recorder systems

Most modern CCTV systems installed by CIA tend to be installed using CAT5e or CAT6 cabling. We can include the additional option to have a remote connection via an easy to use App plus notifications where required. We can offer anything from a 1 camera CCTV solution to a large multi-camera, multi-site CCTV system with as many cameras as you require. CIA has various types of IP cameras from entry-level to 4K. Our system solutions can also include Artificial Intelligence (smart motion detection, face detection), LPR (license plate recognition) and low light cameras (Starlight technology).

HD over analogue systems

You may have an old CCTV system with RG59 coax cable installed. CIA can normally utilise the existing cabling you have installed and upgrade your equipment to a full high definition system, with the same easy to use App as an option. Various types of cameras are available from entry-level to 5MP HDCVI, so quality and performance are not impacted in any way.

Cloud-based Systems

CIA can offer you a cloud-based solution if offsite recording is preferred. This works by streaming the video to a secure recording server which can be accessed via an easy to use App or a web browser. When using this option, a fast, reliable and secure internet connection is recommended.

Monitored CCTV systems

Our CCTV systems can be monitored by Southern Monitoring Services Ltd (NSI Gold accredited ARC) 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. If ever an incident occurred on site they will be on hand to act immediately and provide audio challenging, visual verification or alert the emergency services where required.
